favourite Champagnes
Moussy, Marne
Benoit opened our eyes up to what Champagne can be like away form the ‘big name’ brands. The Moet’s and Lanson’s are OK, but the smaller houses like Ruelle-Pertois are where you find real flavours and passionate Récoltants manipulatants.
One of my favourite champagnes, twinned with one of my favourite places to stay. Champagne Pernet-Mimin, aka Sandrine and John Pernet are a lovely couple who make fantastic champagnes.

Champagne Herbert Beaufort
Bouzy, Marne
Champagne Herbert Beaufort is one of The Chauffeur’s favourite champagne growers. Thierry and his family make champagnes and produce Bouzy Rouge, a red wine from the local Pinot Noir grapes.
They also have one of the most secure places to stay that I have been to. I can run to my heart’s content without escaping or getting lost!
Champagne Dominique Foureur
Ambonnay, marne
Champagne Dominique Foureur, produces champagnes and a wonderful Ambonnay Rouge (not to be confused with the Bouzy Rouge with whom there is a great inter-village rivalry).
